Yeah, not sure what we were thinking when we
talked ourselves out of taking Sofie to the dentist
after she turned 1 and 2.
But here we are a month before she turns 3 and we rushed to make her
first appointment to see a dentist.
I thought I saw a cavity therefore the rush.
Juan and I both have pretty healthy teeth growing up
and well since Sofie seems to have all our bad
traits to the extreme, i.e. asthma, allergies, coordination
Well we figured it was not going to be good news
However we stay away from candy
and most sugars but its entirely impossible to keep her away 100%
sugar is in EVERYTHING!
Anyhow here is how it went.
We tell her an hour before she is going to the dentist
(last week she was excited)
this week not so much but she somewhat reluctantly got dressed and out the door
trying to occupy her mind and fool herself as to where she was going.
running late as always we get there and there is painting on the walls
Finding Nemo was playing on the tele
balloons floating in the air
all fun and games until they call her to go behind the door.
Kids walking past her
big chair
big machine
dental assistant picked her up and put her in the xray chair
put on her "superman" cape
handed her a "cookie"
THEN
the dental assistant put on THE GLOVES
all tears and freakout mode
Poor baby...
the dental assistant tried to recover handing her a glove too
DONE
No talking her into biting that "cookie" (xray film)
I tried to talk her down and she settled down but clung onto me
with a death grip.
Okay, next time we go into the big room
Not as exciting
Just Winnie the Pooh stickers on the wall
BUT OH WAIT!
a tV on the ceiling playing Rupunzel
which she has never seen
Dr. comes in and the wailing begins
He worked quickly, gently and by the end she was calm
UNTIL
the dental assistant came to clean/brush her teeth
more crying but then she saw Rupunzel again
but the scene was when the guys were chasing her and the old lady stopped them
Yeah, Sofie wasn't feeling the old lady
my poor baby..
but we finally were able to leave
we reunited with Daddy who sat in the lobby filling out paperwork
she cried to him like telling him she didn't have a good time
She had her balloon and appointment card
and so we walked around for a little bit
then it was all about what Sofie wanted to do for the rest of the day
Yeah, we try and make up for the dreaded doctors appointments
Usually a trip to Jamba Juice
Today we took an extra long walk after Jamba Juice
then we went to Marshalls
to look for an umbrella for her.
But instead she found...
a pumpkin bib and cute new black shoes.
Not sure why she was so attached to this bib
She always took them off when she was younger.
But basically it went as expected for a almost 3 year old.
Of course she felt better telling everyone she went to the dentist
and now everyone else needs to go
No cavities and she is one happy little gal!!
Yay for today!!
Bonus:she asked for her pig tails this morning at breakfast
and wore them all day.
